My love of art started with the pencil. I grew up watching my mother draw these wonderful portraits of my sisters, friends, and grandparents. I was mesmerized by the things that she would create by simply using a pencil. I furthered my interest by filling in all the sketch books we had in the house, and proceeding to ask for more as presents for upcoming holidays or birthdays. Whether it was a little doodle or a project I'd be working on for several days, they'd all be in my sketch books. They were like diaries to me: insight of what I loved and admired.

Sketch books are an artist's best friend. With the accumulation of sketch books I've kept over the years, I'm able to see my progress and growth as an artist. I can see where I came from and then further where I want to go and how I want to get there.
